Associations/Organizations

Administration on Aging (AoA) — This site, designed for older Americans and their families as well as those concerned about providing the opportunities and services to enrich the lives of older persons, contains information about programs on aging, from health to housing to finances.

The Alliance For Healthcare Strategy and Marketing — This group offers quality education, information and networking to all healthcare marketing and strategy professionals.

American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging — AAHSA is a national nonprofit organization representing 5,000 not-for-profit nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living residences and senior housing facilities, and community service organizations for the elderly. This site offers information about different types of senior housing and how to find quality care.

American Health Care Association — The AHCA is a federation of 50 state health organizations, together representing non-profit and for-profit assisted living, nursing facility and subacute care providers.

American Seniors Housing Association — ASHA represents the interests of firms participating in seniors housing and was created by the National Multi Housing Council. ASHA members are engaged in all aspects of the development and operation of housing for older adults, including construction, finance and management.

American Society on Aging — ASA is the largest association for professional in the field of aging.

Assisted Living Federation of America — ALFA is the only trade association exclusively devoted to the Assisted Living industry and the population it serves. Members include Assisted Living providers, as well as a range of industry partners and supportive organizations.

Association of Retirement Resorts International (ARRI) — Helping seniors identify communites able to provide active retirement living at its finest - those certified as Retirement Resorts by ARRI. This organization also provides a variety of marketing and positioning benefits to communities able to meet certification standards.

National Association of Senior Health Professionals — NASHP is a Web-based membership organization specifically design to address the unique needs and special interests of professionals in the rapidly growing field of senior health.

National Center for Assisted Living — NCAL is the assisted living voice of the American health Care Association, the nation's largest organization representing long term care providers.

National Council on the Aging (NCOA) — NCOA is a private, nonprofit agency that is concerned with all issues of interest to the aging population. Find out about the laws and policies on aging that are pending in Congress, review highlights of conferences on aging and read through clippings from newspaper articles.

National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry — This organization provides seniors with resources on financial and investment issues.

National Subacute Care Association — NSCA is dedicated to advancing subacute care as a viable part of the healthcare continuum; and to providing information and education to encourage industry growth and enable its members to better serve persons with subacute needs.


Demographics

American FactFinder — This feature on the Census Bureau's Web site allows you to access Census Bureau information. You can access data from the 1990 Decennial Census of Population and Housing and the upcoming Census 2000, with information on the social and economics characteristics of the Nation's population and their housing.

Office of Demography of Aging — This site offers demographic data on aging, including long-term care, policy relevant research about health and the economic aspects of aging.

Mature Living Choices — This is a guide to living choices and support services for the senior market.

Nursing Home Information for Senior Citizens — This site provides useful information on nursing homes such as: what to look for in selecting one; how to make visits with your lived ones more enjoyable; and how to handle problems when they arise.

Nursing Home Compare — This Web site contains the Health Care Financing Administration's Nursing Home Database, supplying all the information needed on Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing homes in the U.S. It is searchable by state, city and zip code.
